Fire Damage to a Bison Wall Frame Block of Flats in Hounslow near Heathrow Airport.
After a major fire in a Bison Wall Frame block of flats Quatrefoils were appointed by Hounslow Council and Loss Adjusters to deal with the repairs and reinstatement works. We had previous experience of this type of structure having repaired one on another estate 6 months earlier. We had also worked with the adjusters on another major fire bringing the repairs in early and on budget.
The block had been subject to strengthening works in the past after Ronan Point, to tie the floor panels to the side party walls.
The subject fire had reached such an intensity that two floors were deemed structurally unstable and in need of replacement.
We appointed structural Engineers for technical advice and had the frame Radar scanned to check for fixing points, as it was initially unclear how the front and rear walls were supported, considering that the floors would need removing.
Due to poor fire protection between the units, extensive fire protection works will be needed and we are also looking to install a Mist suppression and early warning system throughout the block.
A detailed set of drawings and specification was prepared and tenders sought.
We are awaiting the start of works on site.
